The London Delivery Guide: East London & The City

With everyone in lockdown, many businesses are still providing important supplies and offering delivery for all of us Londoners. There’s lot of restaurants making the switch to delivery or pick-up only, but many places are converting their spaces into delivery sites for fresh produce. Running low on milk? Eggs? Bread? Artisanal bakeries, butchers and wine shops are still stocked up and willing to get their goods to you as long as you want them.

Whilst these places have been sorted into areas of London based on where they are situated, the parameters for their delivery services are stated on their websites. In this Guide, we cover East London and The City have also done Guides for North & South and West & Central.
So read on, place some orders, and support local business.

EAST

E5 Bakehouse
This organic bakery and millhouse is a firm favourite amongst many an East Londoner. Reopening on April 25th will see this bakehouse taking online orders for collection. Order everything from Lemon Drizzle Cakes, Rye Loaves, sacks of flour and fresh veg.

Dusty Knuckle Bakery
This bakery is usually dishing up unctuous sandwiches and fresh loaves from their Dalston bakery. Now, they’ve started an online shop with delivery to select postcodes. Order their infamous Potato Sourdough, sacks of flour, fresh yeast and even Sourdough Starter for you to give it a go from home. You can add on a £2 NHS Donation whilst you’re at it too as it goes towards food boxes for staff.

The Laughing Heart
Where they’re usually serving up fine plates of British cuisine, The Laughing Heart has transformed its offering. Expect a weekly changing menu of Meal Kits with top quality produce and Rosita’s Deluxe Burgers. As TLH are usually an off licence too, you can also add on some great wine to your order too.

Renegade Urban Winery
Right in the heart of Bethnal Green is this London winery creating some great vino. You can order their wine on their online store and due to the lockdown, they’re also offering free next day nationwide delivery with no minimum order.

The Bread Station
With Michelin starred expertise behind this Hackney bakery, it’s safe to say everything you try here is delicious. Order some of their Nordic baked goods to your door (or go for collection) and now you can also nab one of their fresh produce boxes too: coffee beans, eggs, bacon and vegetables are some of the delicious fayre you can expect to find in them.

Townsend
This modern British restaurant is found within Whitechapel Gallery but is now allowing customers to order quality food to their doorstep. Order everything from Pork Belly For Two or their Potato Dumpling and Potted Brown Shrimp starter. Definitely a great option if you’re doing date night indoors.

Husk Brewery
This brewery located in Royal Docks is doing beer deliveries to select postcodes so your weekends can be fuelled by some of their delicious drinks. Currently, you can choose from their tropical flavoured IPA or their Ginger and Juniper Saison.

Wolf & Lamb
This Leyton based catering company has quickly established themselves as a pivotal food delivery service in East London. For just £20, you can nab one of their Fruit, Veg or Dairy bundles with ingredients from top quality producers. You can also find general bits like toilet roll, milk and eggs too.

OMBRA
This Venetian bar and restaurant in Hackney has had to adapt with the conditions and is now your neighbourhood deli for all things Italian. Peruse their menu and pick everything from Mortadella to Aperol Spritz kits and even a homemade lasagne for two.

Pophams Bakery
This popular bakery has branches in Islington and Hackney and is offering delivery during this time. Their menu changes weekly but includes their baked goods, fresh pasta and sauces too so keep an eye out for their infamous Rosemary & Sea Salt Twist.

Hill & Szrok
This daytime butchers/evening restaurant is a firm favourite amongst East Londoners but now they’re offering a top quality collection and delivery service. Choose from fresh homemade pies, bread loaves, cuts of meat or coffee beans to name a few things they have on offer.

THE CITY

The Quality Chop House Shop
This well known London institution isn’t just home to their infamous confit potatoes and top quality meats but is also home to a deli shop. So whether you’re looking for a copy of their cookbook, fresh produce or a great cut of meat, they’ll sort you out.

Turner & George Butchers
With a focus on great quality, traditional cutting methods and butchery, this butchers situated in Angel is your one-stop-shop for all things meaty. Pick everything from burger boxes to Barnsely Chops and even spicy beef sausages with beer.

Vinoteca Wine Shop
This informal wine bar has branches all around London but also offers a handy wine delivery service. Their online wine shop offers everything you would need to try and create a lockdown wine cabinet of epic proportions.

St. John Wine Shop
Although their restaurant may be closed, you can still get the simple quality of St. John straight to your door via their wine delivery services. They offer a handy monthly box system which makes the choice of what wine to pick much easier and even do Bag In Box wines too.
