The Whiskey Sour

The recipe for this wasn’t first put into words until 1862, but it’s thought to have existed for a few decades prior. Similar to the Gin Gimlet, this cocktail was enjoyed by sailors in the thought to help them fight scurvy and malnutrition as it includes fresh citrus. Regardless, it’s a refreshing, classic cocktail which is quite easy to whip up and impress your pals.

INGREDIENTS

  • 60 ml (2oz) Bourbon

  • 15 ml (1/2 oz) Simple Syrup

  • 22 ml (3/4 oz) Lemon Juice

  • 15ml (1/2oz) Egg white

  • 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters

  1. Add all bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white to a shaker

  2. Dry Shake: You want to shake the ingredients before you add any ice to chill it down. This will give you a head start to froth that egg white up really well.

  3. Add ice to shaker and shake well

  4. Strain and pour into a coupe

  5. Garnish with a few dashes of Angostura on top of the foam. Sip and enjoy being freed of scurvy
